A Glimpse into the World of OC’s Finest Playboy Model Annina Marie / @anninaunger

In this exclusive Playboy New Zealand November 2023 magazine interview, Annina Marie takes us on a journey through her life as a model, dancer, and aspiring music artist. From her daily routines to her dreams and inspirations, Annina Marie shares insights into her career, challenges, and the impact she hopes to make in the world of mental health and self-expression.

How do you like to begin your day? I love starting my day with a peaceful beach walk with my puppy, right in my front yard. The sun, the sea, and the company of my furry friend set the perfect tone for the day.

How did you get started in the modeling industry? It all began with my mom’s keen eye. She saw potential in me and enrolled me in various dance forms. Over time, I developed an interest in modeling, which led to my training with Cunningham Escott Dipini and John Robert Powers as a model.

What inspired you to become a model? Dance played a significant role in my journey. I started dancing at a young age and was inspired by multifaceted artists like Paula Abdul and Carmen Electra, who could dance, model, and sing. Their versatility ignited my passion.

Best place you have ever been to in the world? I absolutely love the OC and Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach, where I was born, holds a special place in my heart. I consider it the most beautiful place in the world.

What are some of your biggest dreams you hope to achieve? Some of my biggest dreams revolve around raising awareness of mental health, especially OCD. it’s a cause that’s personal to me, given my family history, including my great uncle Howard Hughes. Leonardo DiCaprio played my uncle in “The Aviator,” and it meant so much to me to see someone famous go through that. I would like to make a significant impact and help normalize discussions around mental health. Additionally, I aspire to venture into music, including writing and directing music videos and expanding my involvement in the music industry.

What does freedom of self-expression mean to you? Freedom of self-expression means being honest and living with purpose. it’s about surrounding yourself with positivity and open-mindedness. While honesty is essential, using the right words and maintaining a positive approach is equally important to ensure that self-expression is respectful.

How do you prepare physically and mentally for a photo shoot that will be seen by so many people? Preparation for a high-profile photoshoot involves reminding myself that I’m human, just like everyone else. I focus on my positive features and remind myself that flaws are a part of who we are. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and engaging in self-care practices like red light therapy at Alladerm are essential. Listening to Sharon Shanaki, The Alchemy Dragoness, on the “Love Sex and Money” podcast daily helps me prepare mentally.

What are your favorite aspects of modeling, and what challenges have you encountered along the way? Modeling is incredible because it allows you to shine even on challenging days. it’s empowering to see photos turn out beautifully even when you might not feel your best. I particularly enjoy projects like Playboy, which allows me to capture my beauty at every age.

Who are some of the models or influencers that you admire and draw inspiration from in your career? I draw inspiration from accomplished figures like Kim Kardashian, Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra, and the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella. These women inspire me with their determination and creative control over their careers.

What’s one thing about yourself that your fans might be surprised to learn? Fans might be surprised to know that I grew up freestyle rapping, dancing, and pop-locking at underground raves and parties. I was part of an all-female breakdancing and pop-locking crew called “Prime Ministers of Slam” or PMS.

3 things that you can’t go a day without. My essentials include Haute Sauce CBD to help me sleep, quality time with my puppy, and ensure L check in with my clients at Annina Aesthetics and monitor my website, skincare2000pro.com. Staying connected with my best friend, Cindee, and quote Baby Bougioni, and quote is another daily must, and, of course, keeping in touch with my family and pets is essential.

If you could choose one word to describe your journey as a model so far, what would it be, and why? “Interesting” best describes my journey. Dealing with mental health challenges has taught me not to compare myself to others and to embrace my uniqueness and beauty.

What do you believe sets you apart from other models in the industry? My versatility sets me apart. I can dance, rap, sing, write music, and choreograph, and I have a strong medical background in medical and cosmetic aesthetics. I enjoy working both in front of and behind the scenes, which sets me apart from many other models.

Can you share any exciting upcoming projects or collaborations you’re involved in? I have exciting projects on the horizon. The “New OC Crew” is launching a billboard in Vegas under the Show Billboards Inc. Additionally, I’m thrilled to be going on tour with Down AKA Kilo for the “Lean Like a Cholo” tour as a professional dancer.
